You do not need AI inside Gmail for this. Copy a list of subject lines (and short snippets if you want) into a free chatbot and get a keep / archive / reply sort. Free ChatGPT (GPT-5.6 Luna), Claude, or Gemini is enough. Strip secrets first.
What to paste
Export or copy subject + sender + date for the stuck pile. Or paste short previews. Remove account numbers, password resets with codes visible, HR threads, and medical mail. A subject-line list is often enough.
Prompt
Triage this inbox list. For each message give: Keep / Archive / Reply (or Delete if clearly junk), one-line why, and if Reply: a 1-sentence purpose of the reply (not a full draft unless I ask). Group the Reply ones at the top. Do not invent emails that are not in my list. If a subject is unclear, mark "needs me to open." List:
Then open only the Reply and “needs me to open” ones. Archive in bulk what you already agree with.
Optional: draft the top three
Draft short replies (under 100 words each) for these three only. Polite, firm, no fake warmth. I will edit and send. Do not invent commitments.
Skip this for legal holds, HR complaints, union mail, or anything your workplace forbids pasting into consumer AI. Skip dumping full message bodies with attachments and personal data. Subject-line triage is the Tuesday job. Full-thread judgment stays with you. If Gemini already sits in Gmail and policy allows, use that side panel instead of exporting.
