Paste a screenshot of an error and get plain English

A red error box is written for engineers. Your phone screenshot plus a chatbot can turn it into: what it means, what to try next, and when to stop. ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini with vision on a free plan is enough. This is not a tech-support guarantee.

Before you upload

Crop out passwords, API keys, full email addresses of other people, and internal URLs that are not yours to share. Leave the error text and button labels visible.

Prompt

Upload the screenshot, then:

Look at this error screenshot. In plain English tell me: (1) what the message is saying, (2) the most likely simple causes, (3) 3 things I can try in order, starting with the safest, (4) what info I should copy if I need to ask a human for help. Quote the error text exactly. If the image is blurry or cut off, say "can't read" instead of guessing. Do not invent menu paths you cannot see. This is not official tech support.

Try the first safe step. If it wants you to delete files or change security settings you do not understand, stop and ask a person.

When it still fails

The model will sound sure. It can still be wrong about your exact app version. Prefer the vendor’s help page or your IT person when money, work data, or login recovery is involved.

Skip this if the screen shows secrets you cannot crop, if you are about to follow “fix all files” advice on a work laptop, or if the error is about medical devices, banking locks, or legal software where a wrong click costs you. Plain English first. You decide whether to click.
